The Doobie Brothers - The Captain and Me (1973)

'What Were Once Vices are Now Habits' (1974) and 'Stampede' (1975) were the Doobie Brothers albums that got us most excited in the '70s. Leo and Ajaya loved the song 'Black Water', and I liked their version of 'Take Me in Your Arms'.

But this third outing, which has weathered the passage of time better than many of the band's later efforts, contains two of the their most enduring songs — 'Long Train Runnin' and 'China Grove'.
